About the Withernsea 10K & 2.2km fun run

The Harriers' annual open race was first run in 2007 as a 5 mile race. With fresh sea air and a friendly, laid back feel the event soon became popular on the running calendar.

After a 2 year break for covid 19, entry numbers never fully recovered so in 2025 with a new organising committee on board, it was  decided to refresh the event by increasing the distance to 10 km. After initial positive feedback we decided to keep to the new routefor 2026.

Event management is being handled by our own club race committee, ably assisted by members, family and friends of Withernsea Harriers.

The 10K race consists of an out and back route along the promenade with a loop around the village of Hollym (the old Withernsea 5 route for anyone familiar with it). The distance is increased by adding a detour via Manor Lane and South Leys Road, Hollym. This will involve 2 turn around points where runners will be able to keep a close eye on their competition or offer encouragement to others. (see map).

With the start and finish on Central Promenade, Withernsea and a supporting family fun run it is great for bringing the family for an active  seaside outing.

The route is mainly flat with only mild undulations.

There is a race entry limit of 400

Runners must be at least 15 yrs old on race day.

PLEASE NOTE:

There will be no entries on the day and on-line entries will close on Monday 29 June unless race limit is reached.

The 2.2km fun run has the same start and finish as the main race but remains on Withernsea Promenade, runs to the south end and then turns around and returns the same way.

Entries on the day will be accepted for the fun run  but please arrive early.
